Air force reserve...

So I have being thinking about joining the air force reserve, because I would like to have a back up plan just in case something happened to my husband. Then I have something for my kids and I. Which I hope nothing happens obviously. But just to think ahead. Should I do it? Pros and cons..any advice would be great
