7 week ultrasound... inconclusive??

Question

Hey everyone.. I'm 7weeks 4 days. Went for my first ultrasound (abdominal) and the technologist said it's too early to see anything...he said "inconclusive" he said I'll need to come back in a couple weeks. Took a urine test afterwards.. says I'm pregnant. Just disappointed because I was hoping to show my family the picture this weekend :( 
Anyone have a similar experience?

Your first ultrasound should always be a transvaginal

I just had one at 8 weeks and it was almost impossible to see anything with the abdominal. I’d definitely request a transvaginal ASAP to confirm that everything is on track (that the pregnancy is intrauterine, etc.)

With our first pregnancy we had a US at 6w1d and they did the abdominal first and obviously couldn't see enough and just had me empty my bladder so they could do a transvaginal right away and we saw the little flickering heart. They definitely should've done an internal this early. My first ultrasound with this baby is Oct 4th, we'll be 7w6d and I'm expecting a transvaginal ultrasound to get the best/clearest picture possible.

I had abdominal my last pregnancy around 5 or 6 weeks. It was totally normal I think it totally depends...... but I think if they can’t see anything abdominal they should have tried transvaginal. Maybe call your dr and ask?

Sounds like he hadn't a clue what he was dping.  Generally before 8 weeks they do trans vaginal like the others said. 
I would pay for a private early scan x

Why not do transvaginal I have my first one Friday I’ll be 7 weeks and 4 days they automatically scheduled that

Agreed! At this stage the scan should have been internal!
