When do you normally go in for your 2nd ultrasound?

I supposedly went in for my first scan at 7-8 weeks but I turn out to be only 6 weeks and 5 days with a good heartbeat! My next ultrasound will be in 5-6 weeks and that’s October 18th. That seems so long from now. I’m currently 8 weeks and 4 days and I have to wait a good 4 weeks before I can see my baby again. It’s so hard to wait that long and not know how your baby is doing inbetween those weeks. I mean by then i should be 12 weeks and the OBGYN said it’ll be big enough to just do abdominal ultrasound instead of transvaginally. When did you guys all have your 2nd ultrasound?

Most get a dating ultrasound asap then don't get another till about 20 weeks to tell gender. Unless they see problems with the baby or you have a high risk pregnancy.

I got mine at 8 weeks (the dating one) and I have my next one in 3 weeks (anatomy scan). I get 2 ultrasounds through my whole pregnancy, not everyone gets them at every appointment.

I am 8 weeks 4 days today and I i've just had the one ultrasound. And will only get one more at 20 weeks.

I had one at my first appointment, 12 weeks, paid for sex scan at 16 weeks, 20 week anatomy scan.. that’s it.

Last 3 I had one around 7w and second one about 19w for gender scan
 
This one, I just got today, measured 8w, but have to go next week for a follow up... Possible twins lol shocked, excited, nervous, lol lots of emotions.

Usually you don’t get another ultrasound until the anatomy scan at 18-22 weeks. And that’s usually the last one. 
12 weeks is done though if genetics testing is being done. Or just Drs choice to do a quick one. And yes it’ll be abdominal.

I think it just depends on your doctor. I went in at around 8 weeks for my first appointment and am going tomorrow for my 12 wk. my doctor does it every 4 weeks until the last month or so where it’ll be every week

I had a dating one at my first appointment- 8 weeks. I have my anatomy scan coming up at 22 weeks which will be my second ultrasound. At each monthly visit my doctor just uses a Doppler to measure the heartbeat. At first I thought I would get one every time too, but nope! I guess it’s a good thing! You’re not high risk and there have been no issues with baby/ you this far!

My dr only does a dating scan at 12 weeks and then ab anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I ended up getting another scan at 22 weeks cause my son was difficult and they didn’t get all the measurements. I also had another at 34 weeks because I had GD and they needed to check his growth.

Our office does three. One during your first visit. One at 20 weeks. and the last one during your last month.
