I had my baby shower and I had people write down advice for me on notecards. My great aunt puts this. First thing she writes is “birth control” like seriously?

I wouldn't be offended. Mostly because it seems a lot of people don't understand that you can get pregnant very fast after having a baby. Birth control is in fact good advice if that's not something you want.

Hmmm....
I have seen so many women back on delivery suite before baby is 1, it’s actually excellent advice!  
It’s excellent advice on 2 levels;
1.   Still be a couple and love each other, bond and be together alone.   Mums and dads do have sex!  Don’t forget you were a couple before you were parents.  
2.   You can get pregnant very quickly postnatally (even when breastfeeding - my youngest is testament to this).   Baby brain can make you forget this little fact x

I personally would hate to conceive right after birth so I’d take is as practical advise. Lol but I have 6 kids and one on the way so what people say ceased to affect me long ago🤣

Sounds like maybe trying to be funny but I would be offended. That’s a really rude thing to say to someone especially if you don’t know what their story is. I don’t believe in giving people a pass just because they are from another generation.
