Ultrasound after 20 weeks?

Question

What appointments should I expect ultrasounds from here on out?  I’m sure different doctors and regions will vary but I’m curious what others’ experiences are.  I’m 26 weeks and I don’t think I get another until maybe 30 weeks.

I get one more at 32 weeks, they check the umbilical cord, fluid level, placenta and babies weigh and position.

Normally, after 20 weeks you would only get one if there was a concern. It definitely depends on the provider though. The doctor I had with my last and current pregnancies does them at almost every visit. She just prefers to use them to check the heartbeat instead of a doppler.

I had one at 27 weeks only to make sure my placenta moved; they found that it was low lying at my anatomy scan. Fortunately, it moved so I don’t think I’ll have another ultrasound after this. I’m not sure if they’ll check the baby’s position later or what; this will be my first time. But from my understanding, ultrasounds are typically not done after the anatomy scan unless there’s an issue. It may vary depending on the provider. I think I’m going to add that on my list of questions for my next visit.

If things are going well and they can clearly feel that baby is head down - you won’t need any more ultrasounds.  That being said - this is my 3rd pregnancy and I’ve had more ultrasounds after the anatomy scan for my first two.  For #1 it was to check on growth and NST and for #2 they couldn’t tell if she was head down just by feeling my belly as we got close to the end.   I think a lot of providers find a reason to check in again; especially as you get to the last handful of weeks just to make sure everything looks good as you approach delivery.

I had my last one at 18.2 weeks and unless something is worrisome or problematic, I won't have another. My midwife checks for heart beat with the Doppler at every appointment if I want, but that's all. They said starting at my 28 week appointment they can use the fetoscope instead, if I want to reduce the possible risks even more.

I get a scan every two weeks from my mfm and every 2 weeks from my obgyn...

28w and just diagnosed with GD I thought my OB would order a growth scan but my fundal height was only 29 so I guess no concern yet. If it stays that way and my numbers look good I’m guessing there won’t be anymore scans. My last scan was 19w, and before that 8w.

I’ve had several since I’m 35.  I had my 5th at 26 weeks which was a 4d one. I go back Friday and my online portal says ultrasound but the PA said 36 weeks so who knows.  Other than my age and a  previous miscarriage there has been no issues.
