Have you had a blood test be wrong?

Question

I'm wondering if anyone of you have had a pregnancy (HCG) blood test done at the doctor and the results be negative.. But later discovered you were in fact pregnant and the test was wrong. ( which could Possibly be from taking the blood test too early?)

Has this happened to you or someone you know?

My mother in law told me when she was pregnant with my husband she just knew she was pregnant went the doctor and they did a pre test it was negative so they did a blood test also negative a few days later she started her period this happened every month till she was almost 7 months period and all never got a positive test! She was visibly showing by the time the doc finally did an ultrasound and sure enough she was 7 months along. Idk if they did any more tests after that or not but it does happen. I read about one woman who did a pre test while in active labor and it still showed negative... Some people just have low levels I think.

O had 6 positive tests at home and tested negative at the dr.  Went back a week later snd it was positive. Now, I did wind up miscarrying because of a blighted ovum, so I don't know if that contributed.
