After IUD ?

Hey guys ! I’m so annoyed. I went into my 6 week check up on Monday and the doctor offered birth control. Of course I was already thinking of it since I wanna be able to be having sex freely. I was debating between Mirena or copper IUD. (Nexplanon is out due to bad experience) anyway ! 
The doctor said I was going feel slight cramping while she inserted it and i was to bleed for the remainder of the day. WRONG. I’ve been bleeding ever since. I don’t know if it’s my period but the cramps have been pretty painful and prolonged. They hurt. I’m annoyed. The bleeding is not as heavy as a regular period but It’s there. Someone help. Is this normal ?? I’m about to go in and get it taken out 😫

I had a similar experience with the mirena. It was painful to get placed and caused significant bleeding for several days. In the end I didn’t like it and had it removed. It also gave me really bad hormonal acne that almost looked like a rash, and it made deep sex painful for both me and my husband. Plus then I would get cramping after sex. I gave it about a year before I had it removed but those problems never went away. I know other people who absolutely love it so idk if it was just my body’s reaction to it or if it was placed incorrectly or what. Anyways I think just listen to your body 🤷🏻‍♀️

My midwife said they wouldn’t even place the Mirena IUD until I was 10 wks PP 🤷🏼‍♀️

I got one put in at my 6 week appointment. I bleed for a couple days and then stopped and then I got my period and it’s almost been a little over a week now of bleeding. My uterus was inflamed though so I’ve had that uncomfortable cramping. She gave me antibiotics but I haven’t been good about taking it. I need to try taking them again. But I’ll bleed and then it will stop for a few hours and then it will start again. I didn’t bleed at all last night till about 8am and then it started again🤷🏼‍♀️

So far I am not a fan. I have bled for 3 weeks. I feel like I can feel it. Also sex is kind of uncomfortable. But I’ll wait alittle while and give it a shot.

MamaDoctorJones is an OBGYN with a YouTube channel. She explains that you may actually bleed for up to 30 days, although that doesn’t always happen. Some OB’s just don’t explain it thoroughly and people end up upset with the side effects from the IUD, although they are normal.
