Why do people get pregnant after missing ONE pill?

Obviously more than one is clear but I hear these stories that girls miss 1 pill and bam, pregnant. Why? Is this really that likely to occur?

I think just that one day is enough for the hormones to change and make you ovulate. Or sometimes if you did ovulate in that 1% of the time, missing one day might mean the potentially fertilized egg could implant. Just my guesses 🤷‍♀️

Some pills like the mini pill need to be taken perfectly and at the same time every day. Most other pills are still fairly effective if you miss a day and double up the next day or taken the missed pill as soon as you remember.

The po I'll is 99% effective taken perfectly but closer to 91% because humans make mistakes. So yes missing one pill increases the chances of you getting pregnant
