When was first appt?

Question

Anyone impatient for first doctors appt? I am! I am unsure of how far along I am due to irregular periods and I would love to see a doctor/ultrasound to ensure everything is looking ok but my primary care doctor first wants me to get a urine analysis done tomorrow THEN wait for results THEN refer me to an ob/gyn THEN wait for the referral to be approved THEN wait to see when the ob/gyn can see me! I’m thinking this could be a month! Anyone here know where to go or how I can get an ultrasound sooner? I’m worried of miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy, etc!

I’m in the U.K. and we don’t get our first scan until 12 weeks. I’m about 4 weeks and 5 days, so I know how you feel. I just want to make sure things are progressing as they should. I’m about to be referred to a midwife and i’ll have my first appointment around 8-10 weeks which is just a talk and some bloods to check I’m heathy.
It’s just a waiting game to begin with and it’s torture!

I can completely relate to your worries. I can understand that the appointment can’t come quick enough. Have you thought about a privat scan to ease your mind a bit?
I had an ultrasound at 4 weeks, 6 weeks and one today at almost 8 weeks. I am high risk and had three misscariages so I am being monitored closely. I live in Austria, we have good free state care.

I would find an OB as soon as possible. 
I’ll be seeing my OB when I’m around 7/8 weeks (so, in 2 weeks). I did bloodwork (b-hCG & progesterone) to make sure everything was progressing appropriately last week and all looks good so far. You could advocate to have bloodwork done as well, prior to your first prenatal appt!

I saw a NP at 9 weeks. She’s amazing. I saw her regularly until about 16 weeks. Now I switch between two OB’s who are also amazing and Maternal Fetal Medicine. I have high blood pressure so I’m being monitored more closely. I know people who have paid facilities outside of their network to be seen before they go to see their OB just for peace of mind. It can be costly though so be careful. Good luck!
