Is your baby saying any words or sentences ?

My girl whose gonna turn 2 soon doesn’t say anything . Not mama. Not dada. Nothing . She only says no. 
I sit with her and teach her colors , animal sounds, abcs but she doesn’t really sleepwear . She just claps her hands and laughs I know she understands everything but she can’t seem out words together . 
She tries she says “oooooo” “sssss” “mmmmm” “bbbbbb” like she’s trying but it’s stuck. Anyone else having this problem?

As long as she understands and responds, it’s completely normal to not be talking yet. It’s all developmental and every child is different.

My kid is kinda the same way. She understand what we ask her to do like “clean up” “trash that” “come here” “where’s your ____” “sit in your seat” like she’s completely comprehensive just reluctant to talk 🤷🏻‍♀️ we read to her, do flash cards, singing, socializing, she’s just kinda stubborn. OH but when she really wants something all of a sudden she can speak like she’ll say “juice” or “drink” and she says “ice” thanks to my mom teaching her to chew ice 🤦🏻‍♀️😤 and she can apparently say “cookie” (found that one out last night) and today she said “bubbles” and she’s in love w one of our dogs so she tries to say “Oli” when she wants him to sleep with her... my pediatrician told us she’s just lazy & we give in too much to her grunts and random sounds which I think is 110% true so just hang in there all kids grow differently!

Everyone tells me that my little girl is extremely articulate. She’s my first so I don’t know any different. I don’t think I’m doing anything unusual. We read a lot and check out 5 different books from the library each week. I’m not trying to teach her anything specifically but will say words correctly after she tries or say the word she needs if she doesn’t know it yet. If she’s whiny or grunting i wait to give her something  until she uses the name if I know she know the name of it. 
I’d say just keep trying to work with her on it and if you’re super concerned bring it up at your next doctors appointment.

My son is 2.5 we started early on intervention when he was just 1.5 my pediatrician said he should be trying to speak some words by then or trying to put words together.  She recommended early on. We work with a speech therapist she would come to the house 2 times a week and play with him working on his language. He says a handful of words now compared to nothing a year ago. Now he is going to go into school and work with a speech therapist there. My son is very stubborn can understand what you ask but just refuses to use his words most time.

From the sounds of things, I would recommend a referral to a speech pathologist.  It is worth an in-depth look at all skills to see if targeted therapy would help.  There are conditions that make it hard for a child to speak, even if they do understand (like an apraxia of speech).  While there is huge variability in range of skills at this age, it is best to have early intervention if needed, then wait too long (as research has proven better outcomes for children who receive early intervention than those who do not and need it).

Mine only says 4 words. Working with a speech therapist at pediatricians recommendation. But even the speech therapist says not to worry. Every kid is different and some don’t talk till like 4 or 5! As long as they understand everything they’ll come along on their own time.

My son said mama and dada about 17-18 months and those were his first words and then “dot”. Lol for like drawing. But what really worked with him was putting a word to an action with repetition. This was with his speech therapist that we figured this out. We would make games out of it. For example,
With blocks we would do “up, up, up, BOOM” when you stack up the blocks and boom for when you knock it over. It was so simple and repetitive and he really enjoyed it and it actually got him talking and he just ran with it. Now he says soooo many words. Btw now he is 22 months, so almost 2!

My oldest was like that ended up having speech delay. I kept up with her pediatrician about it and just talked to her. We did more songs to encourage her to mimic and had her say every object she came in contact with.

My daughter is almost 2 and she is saying a few words.  Even putting 2 words together now, like come on and call me.  But she only started doing this once she started at a Goddard school.  When she was home with the babysitter it was only mama and papa.  I think the school really helped advance her. Does she get any socialization?

My girls say about 10 words very clearly and then the other stuff is 👀👀👀👀
