C-section or bad tear?!?!

Hi mamas 🙂 I had a 4th degree tear (a BAD one) two years ago during birth & im going to have another baby in a couple months and my OB gave me the option of a cesarean section because I’ll most likely tear that way again and it could cause incontinence. I just don’t know what to do! Please talk to me about your experiences with birth after a 4th degree tear or a c-section ❤️❤️❤️ thank you so much!

Ekk I have no experience in it but I wouldn’t risk incontinence! While a c section I’ve heard is a rough recovery I wouldn’t risk re tearing again....

I had a C-section with my first and if I have to choose between incontinence and a c-section, I’d choose the c-section for sure

I had a friend who had a horrible tear with her first and had to have a c-section with her second due to the baby being breech. She said recovery wise that when a tear is that bad that the recovery time is similar and the pain is similar it’s just picking which area is healing. 
I had a c-section with my first due to her size and they were worried she would either get stuck or I would suffer a massive tear. The recovery wasn’t as bad as I anticipated and I’ve heard planned c-sections are typically easier. My c-section experience was great honestly it was as good as I think getting a major surgery can get haha. 
There are some issues that last like when it rains my incision hurts and feels very sensitive and now I’m pregnant with my 2nd and the bigger I get the incision hurts because the scar is being stretched.  But overall I’m still happy with the choice I made.

I don't know man. I "only" had a long second degree tear (as well as an internal vaginal tear) with my first baby, and that sucked enough as it is. Thankfully I healed with no issues, but it was a good 4-5 weeks before I felt somewhat normal and could even walk around the grocery store without my lady bits throbbing by the end of it. I'm so worried about tearing like that again because for me, the recovery was way worse than pregnancy and labor put together. I think if I knew I could very possibly suffer a worse tear than that next time, I might choose the c- section. Yes, it's major surgery, but it's controlled, and it's so routine these days that I feel like the risks are minimal.

Following. I had a lateral episiotomy with my first after 2.5 hours of pushing. The recovery was horrific. I developed severe pelvic floor muscle spasms/dysfunction and after 6 weeks of pain waiting for my incision to heal I then had to go through 6 weeks of pelvic floor therapy. I’m terrified this will happen again and am considering scheduling a c-section this time, but my doctors are leaving the decision up to me and I have no idea what to do 🤦🏼‍♀️

If this were my situation, I would choose c-section.

I had a myomectomy (to remove fibroids), it’s very similar to a c section surgery (just no baby!). The recovery was not terrible for me at all. Just assume you’ll want to watch movies and go for slow walks for a few weeks... pain was never an issue. I’m now going to have a planned c section for my first baby in January and am actually looking forward to it. Of course there are risks, but if it was me I’d absolutely consider a c section to avoid incontinence!
