Wash your hair first before washing your body/back so there isn’t any residue left over from the shampoo/conditioner on your back. I would get breakouts on my back because of that reason.

DONT tan. It’s hyperpigmentation.
Do some research on it. I have it on my face. 
You need to be wearing sun screen any time you go out. Try incorporating a pure aloe mask and exfoliating into your routine. 
For your back you can use one of those loofahs on a stick to exfoliate it.
It takes a very very long time for it to go away, but if you stick to the routine it’ll eventually lighten over time.

Murad makes a body acne scrub and a body acne spray that works wonders! It's the only thing that controls my body acne.  I use the wash, then a dry brush in my back, and then the spray. :) It's pricey but worth it!

Hi there! I still suffer from back/shoulder cystic acne, as well as hyperpigmentation. I’m no dermatologist, but I believe I’ve made some progress in decreasing my acne in the last year or so. 
- Wash, condition, and rinse your hair before washing your body. Conditioner residue broke me out something fierce. Still does. 
- No harsh scrubbing. Please. Micro-tears are not our friends. 
- If at all possible, treat the scarring with a gentle peel or toner. I really like the Glycolic Acid Toning Solution from Deciem. I use it nightly, and follow up with Differin gel. Be sure to do a patch test beforehand.
- I don’t usually moisturize my back, but using both toner and Differin can dry my skin out, so I follow up with a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer. Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost line is pretty great. Can’t use it on my face, though. 
- Just a rule of thumb, but keep any hyperpigmentation out of the sun. Dark spots only get darker. 
- Super cliché, but be sure you’re drinking plenty of water. I’m such a hypocrite when it comes to this, but seriously. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. 
I put water bottles all over my house just so it’s always at arm’s length when I’m thirsty. 
- Also cliché, but have patience. Scars take ages to fade. None of what I, or any of us, mention will work overnight. You probably won’t see results a month in. I didn’t notice any improvement in my skin until month three or four. 
In the meantime, try not to stare or pick at your acne and scarring. Spend less time in the mirror, if you can help it. This did something for me, oddly enough. Can’t fuss over what you can’t see 🤷🏽‍♀️

i used to use this. acne covered my whole entire back.  it works really really good. but the benzoyl peroxide will bleach your clothes. so use it at night and wear a shirt that you don’t care about. it will dry out your skin.

A body cleanser with salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant (beta hydroxy acid), its oil soluble so it really gets in the skin and helps it exfoliate from the inside out.
I know neutrogena has a body cleanser with 2% salicylic acid, you should look into it !!
Also dont tan. Uv rays are mostly the cause of hyperpigmentation and darkening of spots.

I had this all through high school and college when I turned 25 I did a low carb, no sugar diet and miraculously my bacne cleared up completely. I haven’t had any problems since. It could very well be caused by hormones bc I got pregnant a year later and now 2 years after that it is still clear.
