How can I support my husband cope with possible depression diagnosis?

Without getting in his face, or trying to fix him?
He does have great professional support he’s accessing.
But I think he’s overwhelmed and surprised to find this is what may be affecting him.
He’s feeling very sad having just been told now, Saturday morning.

Depression is more common than he thinks. People don’t talk about mental health, and they should, because many people would realize they are not alone. Once he continues with therapy and finds the right meds, he will be back to himself

Make sure you are taking care of yourself during this rough patch. Caring for a depressed man is depressing.  Do things that bring you joy and take time for yourself as well. He deserves happiness and so do you.

Just be casual and be there for him. Sometimes just being there without saying a word means something. Help occupy him with doing fun things or something he enjoys.

Be open with him. Accept him and let him know you’re here for the ride. Let him know he can tell you anything, text you anything, or write notes about anything if he’s more introverted and not wanting to communicate. Don’t smother him or question if he’s ok. He might not even know if he’s ok and start to question himself. Try to get him to go on walks walks with you. And start to see if you can figure out what his triggers are. Learning about his depression is one of the most helpful and important things you can do for him.
