Commitment ceremony vs wedding

Has anyone had a commitment ceremony instead of an actual wedding? How did yours go what did you do for it? I want to hear stories because as of right now I don't want to get married because there's always a chance of divorce and if it happens I don't want it to be messy if you're not married you can just break up I don't want to end up hating them... And also I don't like the feeling of being legally tied to someone (note: I'm 16 and I know I could change my mind but it's doubtful) I just want to know how it's gone not being actually married but being together is there any challenges/ anything it makes easier?
