Ranitidine recalled??😭😭 baby Zantac for acid reflux😢

I called my pharmacy but they said it’s only the over the counter for adults and I asked if it was still safe for my baby to take and she said yes🙃 is anyone else still giving it to their baby????
I don’t want any small possibility of him getting cancer because they said they found low levels of carcinogens in Zantac. But I haven’t seen about the baby Zantac!!!

My baby just got started on medication for reflux, his pediatrician said he’s not starting any new patients on Zantac until more is known but for his patients already on it he’s letting them decide if they would like to continue or switch to a new Rx

I stopped taking it when I heard that. There's so much cancer in my family and so I'm trying to reduce my risk as much as possible.

They don't always know everything 100%. My 3rd daughter took ranitidine and got horrible eczema on her ankles. The pediatrician absolutely insisted that the medication cannot cause this and it's purely a coincidence that she developed eczema for hereditary reasons at the same time she happened to start on the ranitidine. Well we stopped the ranitidine and guess what?? The "genetic" eczema went away. She's 3.5 years old now and has never had an episode since then. Pediatrician can't offer an explanation.  So I don't know the exact answer to your question, but I do know that you can't 100% trust medicine and their "research".

I wouldn’t do it. People say “oh well there’s a lot of meds and food that have stuff in it that could cause cancer.” But personally I feel if the FDA is reporting on it and has a concern, then the levels of carcinogens must be on the higher end. We all know the FDA lets a lot of things slide by that really shouldn’t. So my thought process is if they’re actually reporting it, then avoid the product. Especially if the child version has been completely recalled. It’s the same exact product as the adult version, just in different strengths and concentrations. There are plenty of other brands out there. Just call your doctor and see what they recommend.
