When would you rather attend Shower?

I'm due at the very end of February but am also at a risk of preterm delivery, so February is out.

Someone made a great point on a similar post, saying she was not holding her shower in January because so many people are still healing their wallets from the Christmas season and "one more gift" might stress friends and family.

Obviously December isn't great considering that a lot of people will be stretched for money and time due to holidays.

Is early/mid November, before Thanksgiving, too early for a baby due at the end of Feb? Would halfway between Thanksgiving and Christmas be better? Or should I hold a New Year's shower and try to incorporate the coming baby into the holiday celebration?

I don't want to stress anyone in my very supportive circle. My family is far flung and some attendees will be driving up to 8 hours one way for the shower, when I think about them going to such lengths + bearing gifts I feel terrible! I know they won't just mail a gift and save themselves the trouble, they showed up to all wedding events.

So let me know. If you were invited to a shower in the middle of the holiday season, would you rather it be before Thanksgiving, before Christmas, or after Christmas... for both your bank account and your sanity?
