The question no one wants to answer/ask?

How do you ask for genetic testing and also how soon can you receive it? I am asking as both my husband have agreed with this and my doctors are rushing us out at every appointment because we told them this was a planned pregnancy. They already act like I know everything...  but this is baby #1. It also doesnt help on our meet&greet it was a student 🤷‍♀️ Im trying to have faith but its quickly dwindling. My ultrasound today was done by someone with no answers and we we're in and out in 10 minutes or less. It wasnt even an appointment- I guess? If i dont get the answers im looking for I am going to go to ky primary care doctor not my OBGYN. 🤦‍♀️

If you want genetic screening just ask for it.  I had it done for both babies around 11 weeks.  Most drs don’t do it if you are under a certain age and without previous losses.  Because of my age it was automatically offered.  As for your quick appts that sounds pretty normal in early pregnancy. Unless you bring them questions and tell them right from the start that you have any or concerns there isn’t much that’s happens at those appts.  Also ultrasound techs aren’t suppose to give much info because they are not doctors.  They send the report to your Dr to review and they will go over it at  he next appt.  As the patient you have a right to answers but you have to be upfront and let them know you have them right from the start.  Good luck!

There's a difference between genetic testing (testing you and if positive then test dad but this is done before pregnancy) and chromosomal abnormality.
Chromosomal abnormality is the NIPT test and it's done around 10-11 weeks by blood test. It tests your baby's chromosomes including gender. Check the cost because it's usually not covered by insurance unless you're considered high risk of chromosomal abnormality. 
Early ultrasounds are pretty quick, but you should get very basic answers like the baby's size, heart rate etc if you were far enough along for that. But the dr goes over that with you usually, not the tech.

So ultrasounds are preformed by technicians and unless you see a doctor after or during they can’t tell you anything. Also, genetic testing is done at preconception appointments and maybe they assume it’s something you’ve already done. I would just ask about genetic screening at your next appointment.

I had genetic testing at 11w, along with the NT scan. Once i got my results we did genetic carrier testing for my husband.

I would try different doctors if you’re not satisfied with the care you’re receiving. You’re essentially their customer and you wouldn’t put up in unsatisfactory service in other sectors; you don’t owe this doctor or practice anything. Be your own advocate!
My genetic testing was done at 11 weeks for both babies (I believe it usually is done between 10-14 weeks, but I’m not 100% sure). Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!
