Where should I apply for a first job?

I'd just start putting in applications at all of them. When they interview you make sure they'll work with your schedule and ask how many hours you'll typically be given

I’ve always liked working at smaller locally owned businesses rather than big chains. Even at a restaurant, you can be a host, expo, busser until you turn 18 and can serve. Serving is great money!

If you're only 16 you'll run into trouble with places like q steak house that serve alcohol because you're not of age. 
I worked for Kroger at 18 but at 16 you can be a bagger

Anywhere! You can also go to local real estate offices or any kind of locally owned office and apply for reception.. my stepdaughter is 16 and got a job at a law firm simply by going in and asking if they were hiring..
