Health visitor?

Question

How often after the initial visit does the health visitor come around? We had our 6w appt booked for a home visit and no one showed up. My baby sees a cardiology specialist for a heart condition and we’ve been to the GP for vaccines, and I have a community nurse come and check weight every two weeks. However, I’m curious how progress and development is tracked, and how to know whether or not baby is on track with milestones? He’s 4m now.

We see hundreds of children , so you should be advised to attend a baby clinic if you need to access a health visitor.

It all depends really. Mine cMe at 12 days old, and then he actually came every 4 days but that was only because my daughter wasn't gaining any weight even though she was feeding loads and was happy and alert(she's 3 months and only starting to wear 0-3 clothes now). When she started gaining weight, he basically said hell be here next in 3 or so months. I was told to ring them if something concerns me

Mine came once and was frankly no help. The NHS is so underfunded. I weigh my LO at mothercare and fill in the red book myself.

Mine came when he was 6 weeks old and then said ‘see you when he’s 10 months’ bit of a gap 😂
There is 3 of them at the baby weighing group I go to every month and none of them are approachable or ask me questions. I think they use it as an opportunity to catch up with each other. It’s sad really because if I was struggling as a first time mum I certainly wouldn’t want to talk to them.

I haven’t had the health visitor come round to us since DS was maybe 2 weeks old. When we had the 6 week review I had to go to the children’s centre they’re based at. 
Are you sure they were supposed to come to you? Maybe give them a call and ask to rearrange the appointment.

Not often... I think next visit is at 6 months.. Any concerns give them a call even though you will have to wait til next morning for call back.. You can always pop into weigh in clinics for advice.. 
As for them monitoring milestones you will get a questionnaire when baby is 10 months you fill that in and you will be given appointment for someone to visit around when baby is 12 months and you go threw the questionaire.
