Should I ask to be Induced at 39 weeks?

So, my mother in law has glaucoma in both her eyes and is having to go to Germany for a special surgery (it's the only country that does it). They will be gone for 2 months and this is there first grandson. I am due November 21st I'm 33 weeks pregnant. There is a high possibility she may lose her vision. If yall were in my shoes would you asked to be induced at 39 weeks so she can see her grandson? If so how would you ask your doctor?

I think that’s a fair request. My hospital allows you to elect to induce at 39 weeks. Baby is basically just marinating at that point anyways. I think it’s really sweet that you want her to be able to meet her grandchild before she could
Lose her eyesight. I don’t see why your doctor wouldn’t allow it.

There is actually a study out that shows that induction in a first time mom at 39 weeks can actually REDUCE the risk of c-section by almost 5%. Not sure the exact study but if you go on YouTube and look at Sarah Lavonne’s channel, she did a whole video on it! I was induced at 39+5 with my first, 40 weeks exactly with my second and this baby I will be induced at 39 weeks on the day. All were elective! I wouldn’t trade the experience! Just be prepared that if this is your first baby, it could potentially take a while to get things moving.

You’re gonna get a lot of “yeah you’re wrong, baby will come when he’s ready” comments but personally.... my doctor has done agreed to induce me @ 39 weeks if baby doesn’t come after 37 weeks but before 39 so I’m taking the offer but I’m doing that because I’m a small 5’1 & 130lbs & SO OVER being pregnant, I have no room for him anymore🤷🏼‍♀️  I would tell your doctor the situation & most doctors understand things like that unless you have an asshole doctor in my opinion. My doctor totally understand my reasoning for wanting my kid out because I’ve been sick (hyperemesis) this whole pregnancy he didn’t think twice to offer an induction for me at 39 weeks

Normally I'd say wait but this sounds like a very special situation and think it sounds like a very reasonable request.   Unless your dr has any special concerns.  Definately worth asking

It's worth a try especially for your reasoning just know all inductions are different. I was induced with my first at 39weeks and WAS SENT HOME because of no progression. It's up to your body. I was also induced at 40weeks 2days and had to have an emergency csection!

Wow thats crazy, but no i wudnt ask to be induced early, and tbh i dont think they will induce u by choice, if thers no need for an induction i dontbtgink they will do it.
