Breaking waters at 5cm dilated?
Does anyone know if I would be favourable to have my waters broken at 5cm dilated, I had a sweep today at 38+6 as baby measuring on the larger side so hoping to move things forward without need for chemical induction.
The midwife was shocked I hadn’t been feeling contractions already because I was already about 4cm so she did a good sweep and reckoned she’d stretched things out a little to more 5cm.
I’ve noticed increased/more frequent tightenings but still no pains. I’m going to phone triage back in the morning as despite having no contraction pains baby’s head is sooo low and my cervix is so thin the amount of pressure I’m getting front and back is the only thing that’s really causing me pain so I’m not sure if that’s distracting me?
Has anyone been in a similar position and asked to have their waters broken? As far as I’m aware my cervix and baby’s position are very favourable and I’m keen to not draw things out too much longer 🙁 I’m scheduled to see a consultant tomorrow afternoon so I was praying things would get going tonight.
