Babies responding to their name?

So we’re getting towards the end of this 4th leap. Only 4 days left 🥳. One of the skills learned is ‘baby responds to their name?’ Kind of baffled by this? Anyone’s baby responding to their name? I feel like my son knows his name, sort of, because we say Jesse a lot and he thinks it’s funny. He definitely doesn’t respond to it though. I feel like 4 1/2 months is really early for this skill?

Pretty sure my twins think their names are snooperdoop or brother. 
I'm always like where's brother snooperdoop? I'm pretty sure I am just creating our own language now haha🤷‍♀️😂

She's not responding to her name, but half the time I refer to her as "baby" - it's a bad habit from when I was pregnant, we didn't find out her gender until birth. I also have a habit of accidentally calling her not only the dog's name (Taz) but also my nicknames for him (puppy, puppers, pup-pup) 😬
We also call her Ivysaur, Giggles n wiggles, squishy, squish, squidgy-maroo, potato, Ivy-pie, Ivy-potato, Ivy-pie-potato-waffle...

We call our kid monkey 99% of the time...and my mom calls him "bubble" in Polish (he's a chunky dude) 😂 but yeah, 4.5 months seems very early. I did a quick Google and it said by 7 months.

This is funny because I’ve gotten into a terrible habit of calling our baby Choochie instead of his name and my husband keeps telling me he’s going to be confused 😂 He doesn’t respond to that or his real name

My son is 15 weeks and doesn’t do this. He will look at you when you’re talking to him but we call him all sorts of nicknames 😂 (Colton, Colton Lane, C Lane, Bubba, etc)

My son reacts to his name.  I thought it was the coolest thing ever.  I usually say his name when he isn’t looking at me and when I do he will look at me and smile.  The first time I thought it was a fluke so I did it again and sure enough he looks at you when you call him.  They are very smart.

Mine does, but I only think because she’s my second, and we’re always talking about her with my oldest. He didn’t respond to his name till way later, and that’s because we called him everything but his actual name

My baby girl is 15 weeks and has done this for the past few days. I’ll say her name and she will look right at me! 
I’m not following the leaps or anything so I was totally caught off guard! It’s so awesome!
But, just remember every baby develops at different rates and all of the info is just estimates. My baby still struggles with some things physically, but she’s pretty good mentally.
