How many times a day do you “kick count”?

Kind of confused as to when to do it. My Nurse Practitioner told me after dinner count 10 kicks within 2hrs. I tried to but the baby was not active at all. I felt her move like twice but no kicks. But all day today she had been super active and kicking. I didn’t do the kick count earlier because I was thinking of doing it for dinner. Soooo does that mean go to the hospital since she wasn’t active after dinner?

I don’t kick count unless I feel like I haven’t felt her in a long time. Then I just pay more attention because I feel like it was probably little movements I was missing.

Kick count doesn’t specifically mean kicks. It’s just the term they use. It’s any type of movement (except hiccups). If you’re ever concerned, drunk some juice or ice cold water and lay down on your side to count for an hour. Somewhere quiet and away from distractions. Honestly you probably don’t notice all of the little movements unless you’re laid down focusing on it. 
I don’t do kick counts every day or even every week honestly. I sometimes wonder when the last time I felt her move was, only because I’m so complacent with the feelings now (39+1). Usually when I find myself thinking of it I’ll just sit down and pay attention for a little bit, and realize that she’s doing what she always does. I just don’t always notice it. 
Don’t stress too much! Pay attention, but don’t freak yourself out.

so my dr told me it's not kick counting but pattern. if your child seems less active than at their regular pattern start kick counting after you eat some food and drink some juice.

If my baby is active all day I don't do a kick count. I only do when I'm concerned about him not having enough activity.

I kick counted whenever baby was active only if i noticed a change. Most days i didnt need to because i felt her so much throuout the day i knew she was fine and happy

Theres no specific time to do it my doctor just said if theres a time baby is normally active to do it then and if shes not active during that time then to eat or drink something. But if baby is never active after dinner then thats a normal and you shouldnt worry if it doesnt change.
