Trust issues???

I’ve never been in a “real” relationship with someone and no guy has really ever broken my trust, but every time I’m getting to know someone I have a hard time trusting/believing them or anything they say.. always have doubts. My dad cheated on my mom when I was younger and it really affected me.. do you guys think that affected my trust issues with people?

I have trust issues as well. Nothing bad ever happened to me. My parents are still together. My heart was broken when I was six, but I honestly don’t think that should be the issue for me. I don’t have an answer for you, but we’re in the same boat. Let me know if you figure it out.

I think your parents relationship DEFINITELY affected your ability to trust guys. It has made it hard for you to take seriously any promise, etc. I don’t have any advice, except maybe talking to a therapist could help you sort it out and compartmentalize what your dad did instead of applying that to any potential relationship. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. Good luck.
