Plz help... I have a crush on my bsf

So I’ve been best friends with this guy for 3 years and I’ve always kind of had a thing for him. Recently though I’ve been feeling more strongly about him and I think I wanna date him. I’ve never dated before. I think he likes me too but we’re both too shy to do anything. I also value our friendship so much that no matter what happens I don’t want to lose him. He truly is my best friend and I don’t know what I would do without him. What should I do? Should I tell him?
