Has anyone been tested for a clotting disorder in this IVF process?

I’ve been wanting to ask my doctor to do it, just to be sure. What was the reason you had It done? I got pregnant with my fresh transfer but It ended in miscarriage (not a pgs tested embryo so It was chromosome issue, blighted ovum). Ever since then nothing and i mean nothing has been going right. We thawed out embryos and pgs tested so now we have two normal embryos and I want the best chances. I have an MTHFR mutation and I’ve read clotting issues can happen because of that. But I also read It just had to do with folic acid. I do take a prenatal with folate instead of folic acid. I would love any advice you ladies have, thanks!

I have not been tested since I've "only" had 1 loss (genetically normal girl). However, at my appointment today I asked my doctor if there was anything we can do differently for our next ivf cycle that may help prevent another loss. She said she could prescribe lovenox.

I did not have to have IVF but I did have extensive infertility testing after I had four consecutive miscarriages. This was one of the first tests they did as I have a blood disorder called thalassemia. My hematologist and infertility doctor said many times people with blood disorders also have a type of clotting disorder but due to the fact that they are still discovering these disorders and many are left unknown, they presumed I was at high risk for one even though my initial tests were negative. I take a baby aspirin throughout pregnancy and a full strength aspirin when not pregnant per my hematologist recommendation. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to be tested, especially if you’re having difficulties.

Hi Sara, I had that done after my last failure.   It was part of the recurrent pregnancy loss panel that my dr ran on me.  It was a lot of blood (12 vials).  But, everything came back normal.   I do feel better knowing it was run though.  My insurance covered it as diagnostic (not fertility) so it was totally worth doing it.

Following because I also had a blighted ovum and waiting for the tests to come back to see if it was an issue with the embryo or with me. If it’s me, then this might be an avenue we’ll need to explore. I’m sorry for your loss :(
