How long did your baby cry during sleep training?

My baby is 7 months old and I started her sleep training , which didn’t go well because I broke down after 10-15 mins seeing her cry so badly 🙁. Please give me tips and advices to handle the sleep training. I am following the Ferber Method.
Planning to start again this week.

We dont exactly do the ferber. I lay her down and can tell by the way she cries if it's going to be a success or not. If she rolls to her side and let's me leave the room without making a peep, then I know I need to let her whine for a few minutes. But if she wails pretty much immediately,  then I know she needs some cuddles, more milk, or a burp.

I go in every couple of minutes never longer than that or they do get hysterical. I only need to do it up to 5 times before he is asleep. when i of into soothe I rub his back and lean over the rail and just put my head on his for a moment and then once relaxed wait a moment then leave

We couldn’t really do Ferber, because the check ins just made it worse. We switched to extinction. She cried off and on for 40 minutes the first night. It lessened after that. She slept through the night (12 hours) starting the first night!
