Did you cry after giving birth/held your baby for the first time??

I see a lot of videos of women who are just bawling after they give birth and holding their baby for the first time!
Did this happen to you? And why does this happen?

I didn’t cry, I just finally laid my head back and took a deep breathe and processed what just happened. I remember closing my eyes and praying “please, let me hear her cry” and instantly within 2 seconds, I heard my daughters first cry. 🙏🏻

Nope, I just exhaled and shut my eyes. So glad it was over. Lol they took my son wiped him up and laid him on his dads chest.

I was mostly just shocked that a human actually just came out of my body.

I didn’t, but I’m surprised you’re asking “why does this happen?” It’s one of the most monumental and emotional moments of your life. I just stared at my son in amazement, but I can easily see how that translates to tears for some people. It’s an overflow of emotions - tired, happy, relieved, amazed, delirious, proud... etc.

For some people they dream of having a baby most of their life so the tears could be that feeling of finally fulfilling that dream. Personally I didn’t love being pregnant or have those dreams so it was a strange feeling when I first saw my baby and I didn’t have that “love at first sight” emotional connection and I think that is still super normal. We all process this experience in different ways.

I did after being in labor for 30+ hours just to end up with a c sections. I was happy, nervous and excited to meet her lol. I waited 41 weeks. I cried even more cause they played “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran￼ right before she was pulled out. And I cried when she cried 😂

I did because I went my whole pregnancy not knowing my baby’s gender and I was just so shocked and happy

I was sooo nauseous and just out of it during my c-section (after being in labor for 32 hours with no progress) that I didn’t get to cry. I heard her cry but my response was so late, saying “she’s here?”. When they finally laid her on my chest, I still didn’t cry, but just too happy she was healthy and happy! Like a big sigh of relief! Luckily my husband recorded it and now it makes me cry.

I’m pretty sure I tried to but I was so dehydrated that I didn’t even have tears to cry. I was more relived to have my baby out more than anything I struggled a lot.

Nope, I just took a deep breath as the others have commented. Going through infertility it was just a surreal moment to have her in my arms I had to just breathe it all in.
