Weird FIL issues.

So, I think it’s safe to say my FIL and I do not get along very well. He is a very opinionated person, and when he has something to say, he just HAS to say it. For instance, he called me a bitch in BestBuy because I didn’t want him to buy me anything (take me to VS or Ulta and we will talk).

Here is my issue.

FIL decided to drop by my house the day after we got home from delivering my daughter. I was a little irked because instead of asking if he could come, he said he was almost here and wanted to see his granddaughter. Fine, I get it, everyone’s excited and BIL and his fiancée were already there (they were house sitting) So he gets to my house, says hello, and the first thing he asks me is “So, how many stitches did you get?”

Like. What?

Is that a normal question people ask other people? And believe me, it wasn’t a question purely out of curiosity. It was none of his business if I had or hadn’t got stitches. My own mother wouldn’t ask me that.

If you already don’t have a very good relationship with someone to start with, how do you handle having such a personal question asked in front of everyone?
