This is a nightmare
I don’t know if many of you saw my last post, but my sweet baby boy was admitted to the hospital 2 weeks ago with RSV-induced bronchiolitis. But once the respiratory illness cleared, they noticed his body’s oxygen saturation levels were still below normal. He’s already had countless tests/scans, and so far they found a vascular abnormality connecting time his heart. Tomorrow he’s supposed to undergo a full body MRI, as they feel there are likely other abnormalities they need to identify before determining what sort of treatment is in store.
Sounds bad enough already, right? Well, cue to the fact that I’ve been living in the hospital with him for 2 weeks and have visited home for a few hours on 3 occasions. My 3 year old daughter has been so patient, but tonight when she FaceTimed me for bed she was silently sobbing and clutching a picture of her, my husband and I. She couldn’t even look at me through the phone :(. To top it all off, they’ve tried four times so far to get an IV placed in my baby for the MRI and have not had any luck. It’s 2 am and he just fell back asleep from the last attempt, and I’m told the next (3rd) person will be in shortly to try yet again.
I also have zero leave time at work because I used it all for maternity leave, but that’s the least of my worries at the moment.
Please tell me this nightmare will end soon and my sweet boy will be ok and our family of four can be together again under one roof. Prayers, positive thoughts/vibes, or anything of that sort would be so immensely appreciated!
Update: thank you all! We finally discharged on day 16, just in time for Halloween. We’ll be going back at some point to repair the bad connection to his heart, but until then we’re all home together 💙❤️
