Has anyone ever gotten a restraining order against someone? How did it go?

I have a court date tomorrow for the extension hearing

I did on my ex. We went to court and we each testified. I showed her pictures of the bruises on my arm that the police officer took. Then the judge sat us at different tables in front of her and asked more questions. Then she said “well I feel like he’s learned his lesson so I’m going to drop the protective order”. I was never so pissed and disappointed in my life. Such a waste of my time and made me think way different of the system. I feel safer carrying a gun and protecting myself.

I got one on my first boyfriend/ex because he was physically abusive and threatening to murder me. It was a headache to get done and there’s lots of paperwork/red tape but if you need to do it, you need to do it.

I did on my mom's ex boyfriend. He put his hands around my throat and held me to the ground, I had to go to court and just listen to the judge give him the restraining order but I was a minor then so it wasn't difficult to get cause we had plenty of proof.

I did. And he didn't show up. They served him the PPO and told him he wasn't allowed like 500feet from me or my residence. Lol. My residence. They literally included my address. What is the damn point ?
