40 weeks today, cervix measured?

Question

So I hit my forty week mark today and my doc sent me for a sonography. 
He told me my cervix is posterior and measuring 2.8 so he doesn’t expect me to go into labour for at least another week and after that we may have to discuss induction.
Does anyone have any experience of their cervix shortening faster or how to help it along?

With my son I had a stretch and sweep at on a Friday (he was due on the Sunday) my cervix was really high and far back my midwife struggled reaching it. It was also quite thick and only 1cm... she gave me a thorough sweep and stretched as much as she could and tried to pull it down (it was a super uncomfortable experience) then when she was done her glove had my mucus plug and bloody show on it. That night I went home and sat on a dining chair backwards (the back of the chair at my front) and rocked my hips back and forth for a couple hours. I had a few mild tightenings nothing major didn’t really hurt just uncomfortable but I felt like I was burning up while it was happening. The Saturday I got pretty much nothing at all... just Braxton Hicks. Sunday morning I woke up at around 8:30am with tummy ache thought i needed the toilet but nothing came out the tummy ache passed so went back to bed I didn’t fall back to sleep just laid there resting at 10ish am I woke my husband... I knew I was in labour... they were far apart but I just knew there was too much of a pattern... they were around 15mins apart so decided to take a shower and have some breakfast before going to the hospital by the time I got out of the shower they where 3 mins apart... I don’t know if anything that I did actually helped or he was just ready everything I have tried with this madam has failed 🤷‍♀️ xx
