When did you make an appointment?

I found out I was pregnant last friday and called the doctor to make an appointment. When I called, the lady said that I have to wait until I am 10 to 12 weeks pregnant to make an appointment. Is this right? When did you schedule your first appointment?

I was scheduled for an 8 week phone appointment just to go over my history and family history. Next appointment was around 11 weeks. Though she should have scheduled your appointment because OB appointments are hard to schedule last minute.

I went 6 weeks for a nurses visit (questions, bloodwork) then 8 weeks for my first ultrasound and met with the doctor. But no it’s not uncommon for them to make you wait that long. I see people on this app are told that all the time. Every office is different

I called the next day after my positive. They put me on the schedule/in the book that day but my apt. Wasnt until I was 10 weeks. It's always good to call ahead because some doctors don't take new patients or even if it's a same doc it depends on availability.

I scheduled my first appointment with my second the day I got my positive tests. They just made for when I was around 8 weeks by lmp. I dont see why they couldn't just go ahead and schedule it for when you're 10 weeks.

My first appointment was at 8 weeks but 8-12 weeks for a first appointment is pretty typical.

That's normal. If you're too early it's hard to see anything on a scan and sometimes baby doesn't even have a heartbeat if you find out early enough

Every doctors office is different but yes the wait for your first appointment feels like the longest wait ever. Lol

I got a hold of my doctor as soon as I found out and just asked her what the next steps were. She had me come in at 6w exactly for an ultrasound. I'm going in Wednesday for a follow up (6w5d). But not being seen until 8, 10 or even 12 weeks is not unheard of! Many of my friends and family had their first appts at 10ish weeks. I suspect my doc had me come in early because I am 35 and not 22.

Depends on your obgyn. They should put you in the schedule just to be sure you get in but a lot of obgyn’s won’t see you until 6-12 weeks unless there’s concern.
