I don’t know what to do?

I have been having very horrible periods lately very unbearable ones at that. My gynecologist keeps referring me to birth control pills which I do NOT want to take. Does anybody have any remedies they use to help with cramps and heavy flows? My flow is usually heavy for 5 days

Could be endometriosis? Or something like a cyst or polyps that’s is causing it. Over the counter there’s midol and pamperin in the lady product isle. Tylenol Advil the usual stuff. I would just wear a thick overnight pad if it’s that bad or some super duper tampons or whatever other thing you may use a diva cup etc. take some over the counter pills. Maybe a heating pad on your abdomen or lower back, drink some hot tea and make yourself as comfortable as you can. I’m 41 and have never taken birth control due to blood disorders.

Why don't you want to try hormonal birth control? It can be very effective for managing periods. There are also so many different kinds out there, that you have plenty of options to experiment with what works for you.
