Would you cut your mom off?

First off my mom is toxic as fuck! She’s done shit to me I should’ve never forgiven her for. Anyways she doesn’t like my fiancé and it’s been this way for years, I prefer not to say but yeah! My mom is no saint herself but want me to view her as one. Her last relationship was toxic as hell and she stayed. But expects me to leave my man when we have a fallen out. She gave me an ultimatum before “either him or me”...super sad! Fast forward to now. Here we are almost 10 years later and it’s the same thing with her. Do you think I should cut my mom off? She does more harm than good, disrespects my relationship with my man etc etc ?

I went through the same thing with my mom. I moved out when I was 21 to live with my boyfriend and she freaked out. She stopped talking to me all together. 2 years later and we’re married and moved out of state and I still haven’t talked to her. I’ve tried messaging her a few times and even invited her to my wedding but she just ignored all attempts so I’ve officially cut her out of my life. Yes it’s sad, especially during the holidays but I don’t want or need her negativity in my life.

If she's as toxic as you claim, yes cut her off. Sometimes family can be the most toxic people because they take advantage of the fact they're blood. Just because she's your mom doesn't mean she's always right.

Yupp. I barely speak to mine. She turned her back and told me I did nothing but fuck up my life (how she congratulated me for telling her I was pregnant with my 2 year old) my aunt that lives halfway across the country has spent about as much time of not more with him as my mother that lives 10 minutes away from me.

My theory is to pick the person who didn't make you choose because at the end of the day no one should put you in that position especially your mother.... you are old enough to make your own decisions whether they are good or bad and that's how you learn from them. Your mother should only be there to comfort/support you and also voice her concerns/opinions and that's it...you make the decision, no one should make you choose.
