Is he a friend or boyfriend? Thanksgiving troubles

So, I broke up with my boyfriend of 4 1/2 years last month. It was my choice and it was due to no growth or commitment in the relationship. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I am conflicted. I have a good guy friend that doesn’t spend thanksgiving with his family due to personal issues. I am wondering is it too soon to invite him (another guy) to come home with me on thanksgiving. We are in our early 20s. He’s a great guy, but my family is hard core catholic Mexicans. I am worried about what it looks like. Any thoughts or opinions? Please be honest.

Edit: I want to invite because he’s thrown hits he would like to join me, but I haven’t said anything in response.
