How does your period affect your milk supply?

My period came back at 6 weeks postpartum. Baby is 3.5 months old. 3rd time I’m getting my period and it’s lasting up to 10 days and I’ve noticed a drastic drop in my milk. Are they related or is something else going on?

It’s related. The levels of calcium and magnesium decrease before and during your period and this can impact your overall supply. I take supplements to combat that and seems to help. Upping your water intake helps too.￼

You may be dehydrated? I personally have never had an issues with milk supply during my period.

Def related. I was recommended 1000mg calcium and 500mg magnesium day 14 of cycle through the first couple days of my period once it starts again.
