Will/is your son be circumcised?

Question

I'm a first time mom, and I've read probably the most on circumcision since I found out I was pregnant. Since it's confirmed I'm having a boy, I ask people around me and they all say "circumcision, is that even a question?" But I've found both options to have their pros and cons and now there is little to no medical evidence that boys needs circumcision. My husband says it's healthier for him, but I don't want him to go through the trauma...

Ahhh where are the intact mommas at?! PLEASE do more research! Circumcision is completely unnecessary and we're the ONLY country that practices it for cosmetic reasons! I had my first circumcised because i left it up to his circumcised father... i regret putting my baby through that pain... women will have twice as many infections as an intact man would but we don't circumcise our girls! This is your son's body, let him make that choice!

I HIGHLY suggest you watch the video "elephant in the hospital".. for your son's sake.. don't welcome him into the world with a knife!

Circumcision removes part of the penis that is there for a reason.  The foreskin is a covering to the head of the penis that actually keeps it cleaner. Also it moistens the area for comfort.  The foreskin has millions of nerve endings that are very sensitive during sexual intercourse.  This is one of the reasons the foreskin was routinely removed in the old days, so that sex was less pleasurable to the male.  For me, I would never take a piece off of my child's body; and for what? Cosmetic concerns?

Got 2 boys and another on the way and none are or will be circumsized. My husband isn't either and we have never had an issue. Its personal preferance. 😊

My son slept through the procedure. He healed nicely, only a few drops of blood,  and never appeared to be uncomfortable or bothered by it.

I think most of the trauma will be endured by the mommas. He won't remember it and will heal fast. However if you choose not to, and he decides he wants to later, he can. He'll definitely remember it more when he's older though!  You do what you feel is right for your family and your little man!

Whether you choose to or not, there's no question that you love your little man unconditionally and that won't change. ❤️

My husband is Jewish. He and our three boys are circumcised, and our 4th on the way will be as well. None of them are traumatized, we didn't do it for cosmetic reasons and they are all healthy, well adjusted people. They all healed very quickly and we never gave it another thought. I think parents need to do what they feel is best for their child, and not worry about the masses. Too many people are trying to force their opinions on new parents and shame them into one decision or another. The personal choices you make for your child are between you and your SO. It's become exhausting to constantly read what a terrible parent you are if you choose something different from someone else. Circumcision is a personal choice you make for your child, do what you think is best 😊

I understand you not wanting your son to go trough trauma.  I will say this I'm expecting my third boy and he just like my other two will be circumcised.  Nether of my son have ever said a word to me about the trauma they experienced.  They won't even remember a few minutes after it happens.  Also not saying this will happen but God forbid he ends up having to be circumcised later in his life. It would be so much more painful.  My last point is a lot of little boys want to look like their daddy and if your husband has an opinion you should take it in to consideration.  My husband wanted our boys to be circumcised so I supported his decision.  I also believe they know way more when it comes to this then we do😭 best of luck!

My son was circumcised, and if I have any other boys they will be too (#2 is a girl). His pediatrician came in the hospital and did his check up and also did the procedure. She took him to him out of my hospital room to do it. She was back with him within 30 mins and he didn't have a tear in his eye. They numb the groin area with a local anesthetic so that he is nice an numb for the actual procedure. I was more of a wreck when they took him then he was after it was all said and done! He healed nicely and had no complications. 
 It's a tough decision but you know what is right for you and your son!

I have a daughter and a son already. Vaginas are infinitely filthier than penises and the thought of trimming up my daughter to make her cleaner or "match" anyone makes me sick to my stomach. My son's body is equally sacred.
I haven't read the other comments but please let it be known that intact penises need NO extra attention. In fact, extra attention is what causes problems. My 5 year old who is intact has never had any issues and I've literally done nothing at all "extra" or "special" because when they're little the foreskin is attached to the head of the penis like a finger nail to the finger. That said, my daughter had had 2 uti's in her 7 years, but I still would never cut her.
