What's something unexpected that happened during your labor and delivery?

Answer

That you can have an irritable cervix and literally have contractions for 8 weeks before you give birth! That was hell. Also I wasn't prepared for meconium and cord around the neck and our biggest surprise was our daughters shoulder dystocia and her being extremely distressed so the doctor basically reached in and had to rip her out. My husband still shivers when we talk about it. Pregnancy and especially delivery anything can happen so you've got to be pretty flexible with your plans.

My contractions were so light you couldn't register them on the monitor, but I was in extreme pain and bleeding. Turns out the pain was because my cervix was tearing. We had to do an emergency c section to stop the bleeding. (We also had low amniotic fluid, dropping heart rate, and meconium in the fluid )

My first one I some how pulled out the epidural and I nor my dr knew so I gave birth with out the pain meds I wanted. With my 2nd I went from 4-10cm in less then 3 hrs so by the time they came to give me the epidural it didn't work because my body was progressing too fast. So I had my 2 boys natural by accident. This time I'm hoping to have it work and have an easier time.

My body wouldn't go into labor. I wouldn't dilate or thin out even after trying cervidil pitocin and cytotec. End up with a c section after trying to get my body to into labor for 28 + hours.
