Are we supposed to fast before the glucose GD test? I lost my instructions and i have that test in the morning ...please help!!!!

My midwife said to not eat or drink  anything until after the test except water.

My instructions said to eat a high protein meal 2.5 hours before blood draw, nothing but water before the drink, and drink it within five minutes 1 hour before blood draw

I didn't for the hour test. I have the 3 hour test tomorrow and I can't eat after midnight, no gum, no tums.. Nothing but a little bit of water.

It does depend on the Dr. Mine said I could eat eggs and some meat but had to be before 2 hours before the test. I was too tired/lazy to get up early enough to eat so I accidentally fasted for the 1-hour test and I failed. I passed my 3-hour with flying colors, though. I may have passed the 1-hour if I had eaten first.

You should call your dr because each one is different. Some say yes, some say no. With each of my pregnancies I was told to fast and at the lab they asked all the ladies and if anyone wasn't, they wouldn't let them take it. But with my both my sister's pregnancies they were told they didn't have to

My doctor said to eat something not super sugary I the morning so I wouldn't get sick. Just had some toast and eggs and passed with flying colors. Generally if I'm fasting I've found my glucose numbers are higher.

I was told I could eat some eggs and toast and that's it before my one hour. I didn't eat anything and failed it. I had to take the three hour and was the worse experience ever!! But I passed. It's not nice to starve a pregnant woman. 😁
