How many ultrasounds?

How many ultrasounds is everyone having? This is my first pregnancy and I've only had 1 ultrasound at 6 weeks. I had a 12 week check up today but no ultrasound. Doc said I won't have another ultrasound until 20 weeks. Is this normal? From the posts on here, sounds like everyone on here gets ultrasounds every month. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get updated pics of my babe today :(

Typically it’s 3: the dating scan in the beginning (usually between 6-10 weeks), the nuchal translucency/genetic disorder ultrasound where they measure the fluid in baby’s neck (at 12 weeks) & the anatomy scan (usually between 18-22 weeks). That’s the “norm”. Some doctors do more & some do less, & some people opt for elective ultrasounds that they pay for through a separate office. I’m high risk so I get one every two weeks. It all depends on your pregnancy and the doctor/office you see. But typically 3 is what you get and then you meet your baby in person 💜

Did you opt out of genetic screening? A lot of people get the nuchal translucency one done at 12ish weeks. I had it today plus two others. One at 6 weeks because I had sharp pains and another at 8 weeks.

Standard procedure is confirming ultrasound and at 20 weeks for the anatomy scan. I am high risk so I get to see my baby damn near every time I go to the doctor. With my last pregnancy it was so often I stopped asking for pictures.

I am high risk so I will be getting them at least once a month. 
As much as I love seeing my babies, I wish it wasn’t due to being high risk ☹️
Do you have a college nearby for ultrasound? They may offer free ultrasounds at a certain week!

Normal. My first pregnancy I had ultrasounds at 6 weeks and 20 weeks. Now my second pregnancy and I had one at 8 weeks and won’t have another until 20 weeks.

In hoping I only need 4 or 5. 
Already had 2. Then I will have 20 week and probably 1 more after 30 weeks.

I got one at 6 weeks (to confirm) and 10 weeks (check heart rate-dopplers aren’t reliable that early). I’ll get one at 12 weeks (genetic screen) and 18 weeks (anatomy- with high risk OB due to medications that I am on). Whether or not I get more than that depends on the anatomy scan and what the high risk docs suggest for my OB. Everyone’s situation and OB is different.

My previous pregnancies I had a scan every time I saw my ob which was once a month until closer to birth then it was every 1-2 weeks. I am going private tho and that just seems to be what they do

I was with a fertility clinic for years trying to conceive so I had ultrasounds at 5w, 6w and 6w5d because of bleeding (i had an SCH). I was supposed to have one at 7w but it was canceled. Then not again until 12w for the NT scan and finger stick and then I’ll go again around 20 weeks for the anatomy scan. I also have to go to a high risk doctor to check on the possibility of cleft lip that my 12 w scan picked up at around 20 weeks too.
