Scary night
Last night at about 7:30pm I slipped and fell on ice in my work parking lot, landing on my left side. I'm 33 weeks pregnant, and at first thought everything would be just fine, after all I didnt land flat on my belly. I told a co-worker of mine that I had just slipped and fell and to be careful in the parking lot on her way out. She immediately told me I should take myself to the doctors office to check on baby because the jarring motion from falling can be dangerous. I shrugged it off at first but had a feeling she was right and called my husband and we went in together. They hooked me up to a monitor and it kept track of her heart rate and contractions. Turns out her heart rate was alright but I started having contractions every 3 minutes. On top of that. They had hooked me up to an IV machine and the nurse had the machine on and it sounded like it was working REALLY hard, I'd never heard one like that before. I was watching babys heart beat and looked up after about 20 minutes because I started to get a headache and feel sick and about 1/3 of the iv bag was already empty. I threw up and hit the call button, the nurse asked if I was allergic to any medication and I said no. I said i was feeling fine before the iv and I needed to get up and wash off my face and hands and came back into the room and the IV machine was much quieter and dripping much slower, making me feel like she had maybe set it up wrong. They gave me some medication and kept me overnight. The contractions got less frequent and I had an ultrasound to check on baby and they sent me home early this afternoon with instructions for kick counting and contraction counting.
