Baby will not sleep alone since being sick

So my baby (7 months old) was really sick for about two weeks. She ended up sleeping with us every night because we wanted to keep a really close eye on her. She was wheezing and taking pauses while breathing when she would sleep and we were a nervous wreck with her in the other room in her crib. She also would cry anytime she was put down because she felt so horribly. She needed the cuddles to know she would be okay.

Before she got sick she slept great alone in her crib all night. Now that she is better she absolutely will not sleep in her crib and only wants to be held by me. If I put her down she wakes up screaming and crying while saying “mama”. It breaks my heart. I just don’t know what to do!! I feel lost because it must be so confusing her to have slept with me and now not be able to.

Any suggestions on how to move forward?

Part of me wants to just let her cosleep with us because we love the cuddles and it honestly is easier but I’m nervous that it will create a long term bad habit that will be difficult to break. I also feel nervous that she will not develop the ability to sleep alone in the appropriate time that she should. I nanny a 2 year old who will scream for naps because she just wants to sleep with her parents like she does every night. I don’t want my daughter to end up like that 😕
