If he’s too long for the seat get a convertible car seat with an extension so that way he can be comfortable

Our infant car seat (Maxi Cosi) has a weight (12kg - about 27lbs) and height (75cm - about  30in) limit.

You should get a convertible seat at this point whether he's still within the height and weight limit. It's currently recommended to switch by age 1 even if they still technically fit the infant seat.
