Do you rinse meat before you cook it

I never have but noticed a lot of people doing it, what’s the reason though? I always thought the heat kills bacteria anyway.

You risk cross contamination when you wash meat. There’s no reason for it.

Old school thought was to rinse it. New research shows that you’re not supposed to because it just spreads bacteria all over.

I never have rinsed it, even when I did cooking classes I was never told to rinse it

I sure do. I put my meat in a bowl of vinegar and water or lemon juice and let it sit for 5 mins. Then I transfer to a plate for cooking. No mess and no water dripping anywhere. My meat smells fresh even when it’s raw and never stinks.

I do poultry. I soak in a vinegar rinse. And im careful about cross contamination.

Never rinse but always pat excess meat juice off with paper towel.

I rinse it not because of bacteria or something — I do it to make sure that there aren’t any tiny pieces of crashed bones (sometimes they get stuck even to a boneless piece of meat in the shop). I just don’t want to find it in my food later
