When do babies usually start picking their heads up??

My baby girl is 2 weeks and 6 days, and is picking up her head by herself and holding it for up to 7 seconds (usually around 4 secs. on average). She'll even turn her head while picking it up to look around and has been doing that since day 2. Day 2 started with just a second or two usually and not much head turning but I have a friend who's baby girl just started doing that at 3 months - is this normal, or am I gonna have my hands full with a super strong hulk baby?!

Our daughter was actually doing it in the hospital on her birthday. The nurses and pediatricians were shocked haha. She rolled over to her side at 4 days old.

My baby lifted his head up on day 2 at the hospital. He's now 3 weeks old & holds his head up for alittle bit before getting tired, they are strong lol

My baby did it since birth and rolled onto her side as well. Scared the crap out of me as I thought we had more time before any of that could happen.

My son is crazy strong. He holds his head up and has been since he was born. His legs and arms are strong too he tries to push me away all the time when I’m trying to feed him 😂 I held him up under his arms yesterday and he even straightened his legs enough to bare his own weight. Then he gave up 😂

my sons been lifting and holding his head up since birth, but now since he’s 3 weeks he’s really good at it and he’s trying to support his upper body while on tummy time, he’s a strong boy 💙 he rolled from his belly to his back when he was a week old and when he was 2 weeks old rolled from his back to his belly but he’s only done that once. but he rolls to his side all the time that the only way he really likes to sleep

From what I've read most babies can lift their own head by the time they're a month old - so it sounds more like your friends baby took their time over it tbh! (Obviously don't tell her this lol, all babies do things at their own pace etc etc...)

Mine did it at birth so I don’t think any time is too early
