You can be 1cm dilated for several weeks (even months) and you can go from 0-10cm within hours.

Could be a few hours or a few weeks...theres no definitive way to tell. I had friends go both ways one progressed that day and gave birth my other friend stayed 2 cm for 2 months until delivery

It took me 9 weeks. I was 1cm and 80% effaced at 28 weeks. I was induced at 37 weeks and was at about 4-5 before my induction.
