Stuttering 3 y.o jealous of her brother or emotional trauma ??

My 3 year old daughter started stuttering about a month ago. At first she was just repeating some words and a week after her brother was born I noticed that she tensed her mouth and closed her eyes to get the word out. I am very worried about her. We have an appointement with a speech pathologist on saturday to get her evaluated. Has this happened to anyone of you ? How are your children doing with their new sibilings? I forgot to mention that around the time she started repeating words my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer she is very close to my father because we live nearby. I was so heartbroken I cried all the time. Did I traumatise her with all my crying ? I feel so guilty.

Children typically (not always) regress when a new sibling comes into the world. Your little one has had a lot of change. New sibling and major family trauma. However that doesn’t mean the speech problem is stemming from this. 
My son goes to speech therapy once a week and it’s helped so much. He was 3 1/2 and only saying one word at a time, no sentences or phrases. He holds adult conversations now and has only been going to therapy since July.
Your doing great! Some parents are in denial when their child has an issue like this. It isn’t your fault, nor could you have prevented it. You can just help correct it.

My son started stuttering around 3. It was scary, no one ever wants their child to struggle. But he outgrew it and hardly does it now. The speech therapist said that stutter is normal in young children and often times it'll come in and go.
