Storage Method?
My LO is five weeks old and I’m feeling comfortable enough with breastfeeding to start putting away some extra EBM for a freezer stash. I go back to work in about a month and I will be pumping, but I’d like to have plenty extra, just in case.
I’m feeling a little uncertain about how to most efficiently and effectively go about it. I bought the Kiinde system but I can’t decide whether to pump somewhat inconsistent amounts directly into each pouch, or pour a set amount from another container based on what size meal my baby may be eating later. I don’t want to waste a lot of pouches, but I also don’t want to waste milk by transferring things back and forth.
What is your recommended methodology? Do you just store your milk in whatever increments you happen to pump at the time, or save it in specific quantities to make it easy to use later? How do you know how much your baby will eat in one sitting later, if you use the Kiinde system as intended?
