Does anyone know if fertility doctors can prescribe anxiety meds?

Im going to ask her about anxiety meds in general (if it’s safe during IVF) but wasn’t sure if she could prescribe them. I’m currently in prep for a frozen embryo transfer. I think I need anxiety meds, I’ve needed them for years and always put It off.

I would say no, but they might know what is safe to take. There’s actually not a lot of research on anxiety meds in pregnancy, more depression meds. I was on Effexor which can cause birth defects in the third trimester but has horrible withdrawals to get off of it, so I stopped taking it before we started the process. 
In terms of meds just for a procedure to calm down, I believe they can!

I’ve heard of them giving something like Valium pre procedure if you need it. Just not sure if they’d give it to you for extended period of time outside of their immediate watch.

Not sure about fertility drs but my OB did until I could get into a clinic

I think it’d be out of the scope of their practice but doesn’t hurt to ask. They might be able to recommend a good psychiatrist for you.
